Hi guys, it’s Eesha Samantray from the Samantray Post. This is going to be a short review of THE RED SCROLLS OF MAGIC.
I
really enjoyed this book, but I was kind of having high expectations for this
book, so it didn’t exactly fit.
Don’t
get me wrong, I came here for the Malec, and they delivered. Alec was amazing,
and paranoid and untrusting as usual. Magnus was hiding his past the whole
time, and Alec was just like hiding his pain.
I
love how we actually see all the seeds of doubt about Magnus’s past plant in Alec’s
head.
The
cult wasn’t it for me, but that’s my fault for reading a book with it as a
villain.
We
see Aline and Helen’s first meeting, and I love that. Ship them, and I hope to
see Helen in TDA.
The
Villain – The twist makes sense, and Magnus trusting her makes sense – because
he sees himself in her, and that made it easy for her to manipulate her.
I
just love how it’s Alec’s paranoia and untrustfullness that helped Magnus not
die. It’s just so funny to me.
I
ain’t talking about Asmodeus, cuz hes a bish.
Final thoughts
I
enjoyed this book, even if it didn’t surpass my expectations. It fleshed out
Alec and Magnus’s relationship and character that we needed in TMI.
It
also gives foreshadowing to that awful moment in City Of Lost Souls. [Shudders].
I love Malec, and am excited to see more in The Lost Book Of The White. Give me a Malec child.
