Hey Guys, it’s Eesha Samantray from the Samantray Post.

And I am going to break down. I’m going to watch the last season of Shadowhunters…

It’s okay, it’s okay – I don’t have to deal with it now, because I’m dividing the review! Ten episodes for this post, and the other two (the finale) in another post, because I want to talk about the finale and the whole show separately.

Before I cry, let’s get into it.

 

𝓮𝓹𝓲𝓼𝓸𝓭𝓮 11: 𝓬𝓵𝓪𝓻𝔂 𝓲𝓼 𝓪𝓵𝓲𝓿𝓮, 𝓲 𝓪𝓶 𝓼𝓸 𝓼𝓾𝓻𝓹𝓻𝓲𝓼𝓮𝓭

 

Clary is alive. Surprise. And she’s with Jonathon, who’s another actor. I really like him; I think he’s a good fit for the role. He seems creepy and scary, but actually wants to change.

Jace is going through some shit. I keep saying; therapy!

We have Malec!

KING!

Their relationship is going well, but Magnus lost his magic and immortality, so he’s going through that. He gets kidnapped by Madzie’s Nana, because she wants Madzie.

Note: I really love that we see Malec as the cool uncles. I’m sorry we didn’t see them adopt, but at least we got this.

But obviously, we get Magnus back.

Let’s talk about the Maia-Izzy-Simon thing. I love Sizzy, but I don’t like how they’re treating Maia. Yes, she should’ve been there for Simon, but she had some stuff to care of as well.

 

𝓮𝓹𝓲𝓼𝓸𝓭𝓮 12: 𝓽𝓱𝓲𝓼 𝓮𝓹𝓲𝓼𝓸𝓭𝓮 𝓲𝓼 𝓯𝓸𝓻 ✨ 𝓶𝓪𝓵𝓮𝓬 ✨

 

WE HAVE A MALEC TRAINING SCENE!!!!

THE FLIRTING, STEAMINESS, IT’S PERFECT!!!!!

I LOVE THEM SO MUCH.

Jonathon and clary go to Paris.

Let’s just appreciate this.

SHE’S SO BEAUTIFUL!

MALEC DATE….I love them so much.

Why are is he suddenly a poet this season. I’m not complaining.

Sizzy get a scene going to the old vampire. I love them. And we see the vamp is actually Cain. Simon almost dies getting the Mark off, but Izzy saves him by letting him feed off her.

Uh oh, we’re going to see Izzy relapsing.

 

𝓮𝓹𝓲𝓼𝓸𝓭𝓮 13: 𝓱𝓮𝓲𝓭𝓲’𝓼 𝓫𝓪𝓬𝓴 𝓪𝓷𝓭 𝓲 𝓯𝓸𝓻𝓰𝓸𝓽 𝓳𝓸𝓻𝓭𝓪𝓷 𝔀𝓪𝓼 𝓪 𝓬𝓱𝓪𝓻𝓪𝓬𝓽𝓮𝓻

 

Heidi’s back, also Jordan is too, but I completely forgot about him. In the end, we see Heidi manipulating a vampire clan to attack the Jade Wolf.

Luke and Maryse finally kiss! I love this ship, but it was a bit rushed. But I know they aren’t the main character/ship, so I can understand they didn’t want to waste much screen time. Also, they both deserve to be together. They both need to be happy.

I’m glad that the Maia*Simon relationship ended so healthy, and now my heart belongs to SIZZY.

The highlight of this episode are the Lightwood siblings. They are amazing, and Alec is awesome.

 

𝓮𝓹𝓲𝓼𝓸𝓭𝓮 14: 𝓘𝓝𝓒𝓔𝓢𝓣

 

 Clace have a roller-skating date and I’m surprised that it was actually kind of cute. So obviously Jonathon comes and ruins everything, knocking Jace out and disguising as him to get Clary to come with him.

Maia and Jordan are stuck in the ice freezer thingie, that reminded me of Mako Mermaids. You know, whenever they Turned, they’d go into this freezer in the restaurant where all the food is kept?

 

Magnus goes to Lorenzo to bring his magic back, for ‘any price’. Magnus, you gotta stop with that tactic, it won’t end well. It ain’t a wonder that he got your home.

Jonathon kisses Clary in Jace form.

STOP WITH THE INCEST. IM BEGGING YOU. PLEASE. WHY IS INCEST A KEY THEME IN THIS SHOW AND THE BOOKS. I NEED IT TO LEAVE.

I love protective Alec so much.

 

𝓮𝓹𝓲𝓼𝓸𝓭𝓮 15: 𝓶𝓪𝓰𝓷𝓾𝓼 𝓲𝓼 𝓪𝓽 𝓽𝓱𝓮 𝓲𝓷𝓼𝓽𝓲𝓽𝓾𝓽𝓮 𝓪𝓷𝓭 𝓗𝓮𝓲𝓭𝓲 𝓲𝓼 𝓯𝓲𝓷𝓪𝓵𝓵𝔂 𝓭𝓮𝓪𝓭

 

I hate the Heidi storyline. It’s just so uninteresting. And I used to love her storyline in the last season with Simon. Conclusion: Your storyline will always be interesting if you have Simon.

Ha-ha, I always loved Simon’s storyline. I think it’s because of how much pain the poor boy went through. All because he accidentally found out.

Anyway, Magnus is living at the institute!

[wipes tear dramatically] my boy has grown so much

But nobody likes that.

 

Underhill tells Magnus he heard that malec was having relationship problems. Shut the hell up. Stop messing with my ship.

But at least we end up with this.

I LOVE MY BOYS.

  

Not Simon thinking Alec won’t know him even though they talked ten minutes earlier.

Maia kills Heidi with holy water.

““That doesn't make this okay Maia! There's a system for a reason. And if we keep breaking the rules, what makes us better than her?” – Simon.”

Honestly, that is kind of true.

I LOVE THEM. But of course the episode ends with maggie falling to the ground.

 

𝓮𝓹𝓲𝓼𝓸𝓭𝓮 16: 𝓼𝓸𝓶𝓮𝓸𝓷𝓮 𝓰𝓮𝓽 𝓶𝓪𝓽𝓽𝓱𝓮𝔀 𝓭𝓪𝓭𝓭𝓪𝓻𝓲𝓸 𝓪𝓷 𝓮𝓶𝓶𝔂!

 

MATTHEW DADDARIO REALLY SAID “It’s my time to shine.”

HIS ACTING! Chef’s kiss.

I’m actually crying.

Apparently, Magnus’s body is not taking in Lorenzo’s magic properly, and if he does magic one more time he’ll most probably die, and the only way to help him is to take the magic away. And the only person who can do it is Lorenzo.

 

Matthew Daddario really is giving it all this episode. Alec hasn’t been this emotional…ever. Any emotional scene could’ve been a disaster, but he really pulled it off – as mentioned by Trin Lovell on YouTube.

ALSO, IM BAWLING MY EYES OUT RIGHT NOW.

The rest our going to summon LILITH. This just proves that without Malec everything goes to shit because they’re the smartest characters and have the only brain cells.

Obviously, it fails and Lilith escapes, but at least Jonathon is captured.

Magnus fights with Alec about the magic thing. I can’t find a picture of the speech Alec said, but its so beautiful and well-acted.

I love it.

And at the end, Alec goes to Maryse and asks for the family RING!!!!!! FINALLY. A. MALEC. WEDDING.

 

𝓮𝓹𝓲𝓼𝓸𝓭𝓮 17: 𝓼𝓲𝓶𝓸𝓷 𝓲𝓼 𝓪𝓷 𝓾𝓷𝓭𝓮𝓻𝓬𝓸𝓿𝓮𝓻 𝓬𝓸𝓹

 

Let’s divide the plotlines.

Simon & the heavenly fire:

Simon is going undercover to find Heavenly Fire, and he meets Raphael. I really love this plotline. I said this before and now I’m saying it again: Any plotline that has Simon is automatically interesting.

Raphael is awesome as usual, and he turns into a human again! Turns out Aldertree (Yup, that bish is back again) is turning downworlders into humans again without their consent!

Luckily, with the help of Helen Blackthorn (I’ll talk about her later) they stop it and take a vial to the Institute.

Aline meets the half Seelie, half Shadowhunter; Helen Blackthorn, hinting their relationship and you can hear the book fans screaming.

Jonathon’s backstory:

Giving him backstory was good to give sympathy for the character. I don’t forgive him for his present actions, but it makes sense with all the flashbacks. He has the incestuous feelings for Clary because that is the only love he knows; the only love he experienced by Lilith, his mother, the one who raised him.

All his life he wanted someone to be on his side, and when he found Clary – he thought he found someone.

While I don’t forgive him, it was hard to see him screaming in pain when they told him about the heavenly fire.

Malec:

We didn’t have a proposal, that’s all I have to say.

It was adorable, seeing Alec put so much effort for the proposal. The first time we’ve seen him nervous.

But it was in vain.

 

But before I talk about that, I really love the scene they have together. We deserve more Parabatai scenes, and not the fighting ones like in season 1.

Anyway, Magnus appears drunk that night.

Magnus is at his most low, and Alec just wants to help. He doesn’t know what to do. While it was sad, we didn’t get the proposal we wanted, Magnus isn’t at the right headspace.

The hug was so heart-breaking, and it was the first time we saw Magnus cry/break down. He never had the reason to.

I just love this ship so much.

 

𝓮𝓹𝓲𝓼𝓸𝓭𝓮 18: 𝔂𝓮𝓪𝓱 𝓶𝔂 𝓱𝓮𝓪𝓻𝓽 𝓲𝓼 𝓫𝓻𝓸𝓴𝓮𝓷

 

Alec summons Asmodeus, he asks him to give Magnus his magic and immortality back. But Asmodeus asks in return that Alec breaks up with Magnus.

 

Say that again you little shit.

I hate Asmodeus so much. He’s such a great villain.

Alec spends the whole episode contemplating what to do. He feels guilty about Magnus losing his powers, because it was for him, he traded them to save Jace – his Parabatai.

I am so heart broken. The fact that Alec isn’t even thinking about him – he’s thinking about Magnus, and he can move on after him. It would hurt, but he’s lived before him and can do it again.

Alec doesn’t understand how much Magnus cares for him, and it hurts.

Alec is such a good person, I can’t. he’s so sweet.

 

 

Harry showed every emotion magnus was feeling in two minutes. Both of their acting is so amazing, its so painful to watch. Alec just standing there, because he doesn’t want to leave. Magnus on his tip toes because Alec isn’t leaning down.

I am dead.

Call an ambulance.

Also, Clary is dark now.

Good for her, I’m dead.

 

𝓮𝓹𝓲𝓼𝓸𝓭𝓮 19: 𝓶𝓪𝓵𝓮𝓬 𝓯𝓵𝓪𝓼𝓱𝓫𝓪𝓬𝓴𝓼 𝓪𝓷𝓭 𝓳𝓮𝓶

Shadowhunters is trying to kill me with this flashbacks and has succeeded. Call an ambulance.

It’s just so sad to see Magnus so heartbroken, then Asmodeus taking advantage of that.

We have another appearance of Jem! Magnus asks him to remove his memories of Alec.

Jem coming with the good advice as always. I love them so much. Alec this whole episode is trying to think of anything except Magnus, while the whole episode Magnus dwells on the breakup.

I can’t deal with this.

Sizzy had a super cute scene though!

I love this ship so much.

Also, Jace, Clary and Jonathon kidnap the Seelie Queen.

Good for them.

Also, Jordan stole the last vial of heavenly fire that could make downworlders mundane. Y’all need to have better security.

 

𝓮𝓹𝓲𝓼𝓸𝓭𝓮 20: 𝓶𝓪𝓵𝓮𝓬 𝓻𝓮𝓾𝓷𝓲𝓽𝓮 𝓫𝓾𝓽 𝓼𝓱𝓪𝓭𝓸𝔀𝓱𝓾𝓷𝓽𝓮𝓻𝓼 𝓼𝓽𝓲𝓵𝓵 𝓱𝓪𝓼 𝓽𝓸 𝓫𝓻𝓮𝓪𝓴 𝓶𝔂 𝓱𝓮𝓪𝓻𝓽 𝓽𝓱𝓸𝓼𝓮 𝓫𝓪𝓼𝓽𝓪𝓻𝓭𝓼

 

ASMODEUS TAKING ADVANTAGE OF MAGNUS MAKES ME WANT TO – GAH. But at least Lorenzo’s a chameleon now.

I love Maryse so much. She’s the reason Malec got together again. She’s the one who pieced it together about Asmodeus and why Alec broke up with him.

JORDAN DIED.

And I am crying right now. So, let’s move on to saving Clary.

 

Isabelle and Clary’s fighting was so cool. And I missed Alec and his bow! I wish we got more of his fight scenes in season 2 and 3. It just reduced. I know he became the head of the institute, but I LOVE HIS BOW.

Magnus banishing Asmodeus was so awesome! He really is a KING.

 

So, no Sizzy kiss? I hate you show.

Jonathon opened the rift to Edom, and demons came, and even if they kill them they’ll come back.

Alec: We've got this.

Isabelle: We've got this?

Alec: It's no problem. We're Lightwoods.

 

Honey, we’re gonna DIE.

I can’t DEAL WITH THIS. But obviously, shadowhunters gotta ruin the moment by making Magnus sacrifice himself to vanquish the rift.

I just can’t. I am already dead.

And that’s it. That’s episode 20. It was supposed to be the finale for season 3, and you could tell they had BIG plans for season 3.

I am so sad we couldn’t see it, but we got what we got. I’ll talk about the whole of season 3 and the whole show with the finale (ep 21 & 22) separately.

I cannot believe this is the end. But nobody can stop me to rewatch this entire show again later.
