Hey guys. Eesha Samantray from the Samantray Post here. I told you I’ll be giving episode by episode reviews for THE UMBRELLA ACADEMY SEASON 2. Let’s go.

 

𝓮𝓹𝓲𝓼𝓸𝓭𝓮 𝓸𝓷𝓮: 𝓬𝓪𝓽𝓬𝓱𝓲𝓷𝓰 𝓾𝓹 𝔀𝓲𝓽𝓱 𝓽𝓱𝓮 𝓪𝓬𝓪𝓭𝓮𝓶𝔂

 

All right. We’re back where we are started. Five, who is the first to come on screen (which I love ❤️), appears in World War three. Again, he watched his siblings die (which I mean is, pretty traumatizing) and before that I see the drastically changed haircuts.

Five reappears in an alleyway. They have eight days to stop the apocalypse. Vanya has amnesia. She is a nanny to this boy who has some mental difficulties (I do not know what, but it is obvious) and I see an affair coming along! Don’t know what to feel about it, but let’s see. Klaus has a cult followed by Ben, my third favorite character, unwillingly. Allison is black activist who married another, named Ray. Ugh. I know they’re going to break his heart and I don’t want that!

Anyway, and Luther is…a brawler for the gangster who killed John F. Kennedy. I mean, I’m not American, but…why? And Hazel dies. Why? WHY? I HATE YOU.

 

𝓮𝓹𝓲𝓼𝓸𝓭𝓮 𝓽𝔀𝓸: 𝓽𝓱𝓮 𝓯𝓪𝓼𝓱𝓲𝓸𝓷 𝓫𝓲𝓼𝓱 𝓲𝓼 𝓫𝓪𝓬𝓴

 

Y’all know. The Handler isn’t dead. I knew it. I am the master of cinema. Says the person who was gullible and dumb enough to trust Mysterio. Anyway, she’s demoted, good for her, by nemo in a fish tank which just reminded me of Mysterio and Nemo. I hate him already. Five goes to Luther telling him about the apocalypse. AND HE REPLIES THAT HE’S HAPPY WORKING WITH THAT GANGSTER! I HATE HIM. Anyway, there’s a bit of, you know, with Vanya and Sissy (her name reminds me of what Bellatrix calls Draco’s mother). No thoughts on the Dad being the reason of Kennedy’s death. Luther apologizes to Vanya, which means he has more points in me liking him this season! We see baby Pogo, very cute. Next!

 

𝓮𝓹𝓲𝓼𝓸𝓭𝓮 𝓽𝓱𝓻𝓮𝓮: 𝓽𝓱𝓲𝓼 𝓫𝓲𝓼𝓱 𝓲𝓼 𝓽𝓱𝓮 𝓯𝓪𝓼𝓱𝓲𝓸𝓷𝓪𝓫𝓵𝓮 𝓫𝓲𝓼𝓱'𝓼 𝓭𝓪𝓾𝓰𝓱𝓽𝓮𝓻

 

Five finds Vanya, and tells her everything except he was the cause of the apocalypse.  Luther tells her. Klaus goes to his lover who is kind of a teenager. He doesn’t want to rekindle his love – thank god – but to save his life. Ray sees Allison’s powers, and RUNS AWAY. I TRUSTED YOU, MAN! LILA, who I haven’t mentioned, is the Handler’s DAUGHTER. I didn’t trust her, but WHY. I hate her. I know she’ll have a redemption arc and I won’t trust her.

 

𝓮𝓹𝓲𝓼𝓸𝓭𝓮 𝓯𝓸𝓾𝓻: f𝓲𝓿𝓮 𝓲𝓼 𝓽𝓱𝓮 𝓼𝓶𝓪𝓻𝓽𝓮𝓼𝓽 𝓪𝓰𝓪𝓲𝓷 𝓪𝓷𝓭 r𝓪𝔂 𝓲𝓼 𝓶𝓪𝓴𝓲𝓷𝓰 𝓶𝓮 𝔀𝓪𝓷𝓽 𝓽𝓸 𝓫𝓮𝓪𝓽 𝓱𝓲𝓶 𝓾𝓹

 

Lila was sent to protect Five. Which is a reasonable thing to do, I would protect Five with all my life, but sounds fishy. My prediction is the Handler wants something from Five. David punches Klaus, pressured by his homophobic dad. Five doesn’t trust Lila (claps hands). FINALLY. Of course, Five is the sensible one. Sissy and Vanya kiss.

The only problem I have is that Sissy looks forty and Vanya looks twenty. So, don’t know about that. Allison goes to Ray and he thinks she’s a mole. I already told what I mean in the title. Lila saves Five instead of Diego when they both were in trouble. That makes when Five says that if she appears in his sight again, she will be dead, Diego seconds that. Good, boy. I like Diego this season. He’s interesting. We know that he’s suffering a lot. Love him now.

 

𝓮𝓹𝓲𝓼𝓸𝓭𝓮 𝓯𝓲𝓿𝓮: 𝓿𝓪𝓷𝔂𝓪, 𝓴𝓵𝓪𝓾𝓼 𝓪𝓷𝓭 𝓪𝓵𝓵𝓲𝓼𝓸𝓷 𝓫𝓮𝓬𝓸𝓶𝓮 𝓫𝓮𝓼𝓽𝓲𝓮𝓼

 

Last episode, Lila saves Five instead of Diego when they both were in trouble. That makes when Five says that if she appears in his sight again, she will be dead, Diego seconds that. Good, boy. I like Diego this season. He’s interesting. We know that he’s suffering a lot. Love him now.

Five chases Lila, because oh his promise. And they fight. At first, Five is struggling, but then he finds something out and quickly holds her down. He knows she’s from the Commission and that she’s the Handler’s daughter when she appears. The Handler asks Five to kill the members of the board in exchange for a briefcase back to 2019 and when they leave, both apocalypses. Five, being smart, doesn’t say yes immediately, saying he’ll think about it.

 

𝓮𝓹𝓲𝓼𝓸𝓭𝓮 𝓼𝓲𝔁: 𝓯𝓲𝓿𝓮 𝓸𝓷𝓬𝓮 𝓪𝓰𝓪𝓲𝓷 𝓫𝓮𝓲𝓷𝓰 𝓽𝓱𝓮 𝓸𝓵𝓭𝓮𝓼𝓽 𝓪𝓷𝓭 𝓶𝓸𝓻𝓮 𝓶𝓪𝓽𝓾𝓻𝓮

 

Allison tells Ray everything and he accepts it when she gives him proof. David comes to Klaus and asks him about what he told him the other day. 

They argue but stop when Dave drops a bomb; he already enlisted. It’s a change of course from his previous path. Klaus is devastated to learn this, as it means he has caused a butterfly effect [this sentence is from https://showsnob.com/2020/08/03/the-umbrella-academy-season-1-episode-6-recap/]. The dinner with dad doesn’t go well. 

Seeing that it is obvious Five is most mature of the academy, he talks with him. Five wanted advice about time travel but was disappointed from what he said. ELLIOTT DIES! I actually liked him. Wtf.

 

𝓮𝓹𝓲𝓼𝓸𝓭𝓮 𝓼𝓮𝓿𝓮𝓷: 𝓯𝓲𝓿𝓮 𝓭𝓸𝓲𝓷𝓰 𝓮𝓿𝓮𝓻𝔂𝓽𝓱𝓲𝓷𝓰 𝓽𝓸 𝓼𝓪𝓿𝓮 𝓽𝓱𝓮 𝔀𝓸𝓻𝓵𝓭 𝓫𝓾𝓽 𝓱𝓲𝓼 𝓼𝓲𝓫𝓵𝓲𝓷𝓰𝓼 𝓫𝓮𝓲𝓷𝓰 𝓾𝓷𝓰𝓻𝓪𝓽𝓮𝓯𝓾𝓵 𝓪𝓷𝓭 𝓲𝓭𝓲𝓸𝓽𝓼

 

FIVE KILLS ALL OF THE BOARD OF DIRECTORS. Very cool, I love him. But he hated doing it, which is, um, reasonable. He meets up with The Handler who drops a little twist on their deal. She gives him a briefcase that will supposedly get him and his siblings back to 2019, but only if he can get them all together within 90 minutes, which is not going to be an easy task.

FIVE HAD TO KILL PEOPLE SO THAT HE COULD DO THIS, and it probably brought back memories OF HIS PAST, so that only LUTHER and KLAUS come. Luther, you have more points for this. No shade to Allison, though, she was attacked. FIVE AND VANYA HAVE A SUPERNATURAL BRAWL, AND SHE RELENTED! I love Five.

It turns out, the “thing” Diego needed to do was bury Elliott, which is pretty noble of him, honestly. But before he can finish, Lila shows up and pulls out a flask. She says everything that happened between them was mostly genuine and her lies were only to protect him. She takes a drink for Elliott and gives Diego the flask to take a sip, too. It was laced with something and he passes out. I HATE LILA. She probably is fan favorite of this season, but I don’t care. 

 

𝓮𝓹𝓲𝓼𝓸𝓭𝓮 𝓮𝓲𝓰𝓱𝓽: "𝓲𝓶 𝓽𝓱𝓮 𝓭𝓪𝓭𝓭𝔂 𝓷𝓸𝔀!"

 

All right. Vanya is interrogated by some officer, and the guy thinks she’s a communist because she speaks Russian and appeared out of nowhere. Five throws a temper tantrum – which is right fully deserved – and declares it is every sibling for themselves. Luther tells Klaus to get Allison while he gets Five. Anyway, Lila wants Diego to be a team member and the Handler reluctantly agrees.

While Five is another plan – of course he does. To find his past self that will come to assassinate the president and take his briefcase. But the thing is there are seven stages of paradox that ends with homicidal rage – and while he says all of them, he looks right at the camera, which freaked the eff out of me. I hate it when characters in shows look at the camera (except from the office and parks and rec, of course). Vanya is being tortured by a freaking electric chair. And Five doesn’t trust himself – I loved this episode.

Diego finds out that it is Vanya who causes the apocalypse (again) by destroying a building and Kennedy survives, and they all think the Communists did it – leading to nuclear war. Old and our Five are both showing signs of paranoid psychosis. Luther agrees with Old five’s plan – making me want to punch him, but five knows what’s going on. And we get the best quote of the whole season – ‘I’M THE DADDY NOW!’ I am on the ground, shaking. Well, not really since I’m tying on my laptop. Vanya eats…brain (y’all it kinda looks like pudding…I would shut my eyes and just eat it) and gets her memory but is trapped in her mind. There was probably heavy metaphors that I get it, but who cares.

At the end, Ben goes in to Vanya. I’m excited to see this.

 

𝓮𝓹𝓲𝓼𝓸𝓭𝓮 𝓷𝓲𝓷𝓮: 𝓫𝓮𝓷 𝓭𝓲𝓮𝓭-𝓭𝓲𝓮𝓭 𝓪𝓷𝓭 𝓲𝓶 𝓷𝓸𝓽 𝓸𝓴𝓪𝔂

 

Luther chooses our five (good…) and old five repeats the cycle. Ben saves Vanya, THEN BEN DOESN’T COME OUT ALIVE. BEN DIES. I MEAN HE DIES-DIES. I actually think they’re gonna revive him next season, you know, since it’s a supernatural show. 

BUT THIS IS SO FRICKIN SAD. HE ASKS FOR ONE HUG BEFORE HE LEAVES. IGNORE THE SCREAMING. AND HE WHISPERS HER WHAT TO SAY TO KLAUS. GOD.

~AFTER A QUICK BREAK~

Sorry, I was sad so I went to watch a Danny Gonzalez video. Let’s continue. Lila thinks Five killed her parents – I swear to god if you hurt him, I will personally kill you and your uncombed hair (seriously, comb it).

Reginald is an alien. Makes sense. The episode ends with the Handler calling all personnel for war. I almost don’t want to watch the next episode…I don’t want it to end! The is a great show – I’m glad season 3 is there or I would die. This is the first time when my father watches something and says ‘I’ll miss this show’ so its proof it’s godly. Or maybe I have bad taste in shows and this is the only good one…

Anyway, today I’m watching the finale. Tomorrow is when I upload.

Look, I’m crying. I’m just going to sum this episode:

LILA HAS POWERS. I FRICKEN HATE HER. I KNOW SHE WAS A BIGGER ROLE IN SEASON 3 BUT I JUST DON’T CARE.

Five saw his family die three times. Three fricken times. He really needs therapy. Every one in the academy needs therapy.

I love this episode so much. Sparrow academy. Don’t really know what to think. Thank god there aren’t new characters then. I was worrying about that.

I have to wait fricken months for the next season. I know people have been waiting for two YEARS, but I hate waiting. Well, I’m already waiting for season two of shadow and bone so that’ll be great (sobs hysterically)

Is this season better than the other? I don’t know. I love both of them so much. I don’t think its less good than season one, you know?
